“Listen, we’re not just a good team. We’re a great team. And don’t you fucking forget that. And let’s go play one game at a time and go prove that. Because let me tell you something… There’s a reason why you wear this Red Sox uniform… Because you’re a bad motherfucker.”

David Ortiz, 2007

And just like that, my oldest, Sophia turned 14 today. This girl wonderfully changed my world 14 years ago and I still remember those days when she would fall asleep in my arms.

My oldest, Julia, also turned 14 in March. I have the exact same sentiments. It’s tough to believe she’s 14 and getting ready to start high school next year but it’s also been an amazing time and continues to be one.

A screenshot of my very first blog, circa 2001, via Archive.org. So much to comment on here: a post about the Afghan Whigs breakup, the k10k/Kottke-inspired pixel art design (complete with cutting edge iframe); references to “Erin Brockovich” and “Slacker”; a blogroll name checking several of the early blogging in-crowd types I was in awe of in those days (including nearly forgotten early Pyra/Blogger employee Jack Saturn); and links to: a page about my high school senior prank, an audio file archive I created of old Beatles Christmas records, and a Java cron implementation I wrote for a college class. I was pretty awesome.

I remember this page. It was one I checked all the time.

For a bit I thought Jack Dorsey and Jack Saturn were the same person because I just kept hearing about Jack at Odeo / Twitter. Crazy how time moves on..

April 1, 1976: Apple is Founded

On this day in 1976, Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne founded Apple, a business dedicated to selling personal computers. The three founders worked in Jobs’ parents’ garage and developed their first product, Apple I. The following July, Apple introduced 200 personal computers to the market and sold them for $666.66.

Throughout the years, Apple has gained its title as a global leader in the consumer electronics industry due to its iconic products such as the iPhone, iPod, iMac, and iPad.

In 2011, the world had to say goodbye to Apple’s leading force - Steve Jobs. Take a moment to remember the life of Steve Jobs with PBS NewsHour’s special report

No joke.

Interesting that the remnants of the WBC are still on the field. I bet they were waiting to clean that up since they’ll have new things there for Opening Day and the Championship ceremony..

When the reader is small enough, the book IS the nook.

Reading: CRYPTONOMICON. The fist pump is actually in response to something relatively minor. This baby is just enthusiastic about everything.

My reaction was eerily similar the first time I read CRYPTONOMICON and dreamed of building a data haven with World War Two gold…
